Mammoth vs Rush (pre-season)

Mammoth vs Rush

Dear Saskatchewan Rush Fans,

We want to provide our valued Season Ticket Members, Groups, and Single Game customers an update on the start of the upcoming 2018-19 Saskatchewan Rush scheduled season. We are truly grateful for your continued support along with your passion for the Saskatchewan Rush. Your commitment has and always will be important to our organization.

As you may be aware, the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and its Board of Governors have been negotiating with the Professional Lacrosse Players Association (PLPA), which is the exclusive bargaining agent for our players on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

We believe we must create a partnership for growth with the players, but we must grow together with a strategy that fits within a reasonable and sustainable business model. This is a long-term proposition to make the National Lacrosse League the preeminent league of choice for our players and you, our great fans!

At this point, we are extremely disappointed that we have not reached a fair and equitable agreement for both the NLL and the players.

As a result of the players not attending the last three weeks of training camps, and in turn causing our teams the inability to properly plan and prepare, we will be cancelling the first two weekends of the 2018-19 season, which includes only games on December 1st and December 8th, 2018. We will provide any further communication on the 2018-19 schedule as updates become available.

We will be providing additional details in a forthcoming e-mail that provides information on the plan and process for our Season Ticket Members, Group and Single Game buyers who have purchased tickets for the 2018-19 season. That will address credits or refunds for the games that have been canceled.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this may create for you and will continue to work daily to resolve this issue in earnest. It is our hope that we can get back to playing lacrosse and providing you, the fans, the best entertainment experience in professional sports.

Thank you for your commitment and patience.

Nick Sakiewicz
Commissioner, National Lacrosse League

The League suspended it’s 5:00pm deadline yesterday to allow the PLPA to provide a new counterproposal. After a thorough review of the PLPA’s counterproposal, it is clear we cannot accept the terms the PLPA has put forward, and therefore, have made a decision to reject it. We believe those terms would have both short and long term negative consequences on our member clubs and the League which we are not willing to accept. Therefore, there is not yet an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement.

With respect to the upcoming season, the PLPA has instructed its players not to attend training camps or submit to physicals, making the formation of rosters and operation of the opening of the season impossible.

Therefore, and regrettably, because of the PLPA’s current position, the first two weekends of the 2018-19 season, which includes games on December 1 and December 8, 2018, are cancelled.

We will provide further communications on the 2018-19 schedule as updates become available.
